Museum Monday on Tuesday: Week of Awesome!
What a week after a week of awesome!
The Thrill Kill Kult Day on Saturday was just smashing! It really changes the Museum when we have a theme – the music changes, some of the screens get extra focused content, and we spend days before the event preparing items for fans to lose themselves in – and this was no exception! Paulie Gladden’s newsletters were on display, along with Confessions Of A Knife artwork, the podium from 13 Above the Night, and much more. Lorie Em Kay was present to talk about those early Wax Trax years, too, in a way that brings life and meaning to all of it. Thanks everyone!
Sunday was a remembrance event for our beloved Cynthia Plaster Caster at G Man Tavern. I spoke for a little while and loved hearing stories from Cynthia’s friends and supporters. The Museum’s growth unexpectedly continued when Brian Windorf asked me if I wanted a Mary Byker cast because he had one in his car (?!?!?!?!?!?). So, yes, I did. and now we do!
August 1st I’m heading up to Rockford for an event at 317 Arts Collective celebrating the works of Brian Shanley, who created and supervised much of the Wax Trax artwork (Lead Into Gold and Big Sexy Land come to mind along with many others). He is featured in my brief talk Blueprint for Chaos in the IKONS section. It’s about the many many reasons Chicago became the epicenter of industrial, and at some point, I’ll be spinning some tunes, too! We will have some Museum merchandise and a chance to win a group tour of the museum at the booth, too! If you’re interested in attending, check out full details HERE!
There are so many events coming up at the museum – or, if none of those work, contact us for a private tour and bring some friends (DETAILS HERE)!
