Museum Monday: This is Where it Gets Good
This is where it gets good, I think!
There’s already so much amazing Killing Joke material at the Museum. Paul Raven’s bass case, which is upstairs in the Airbnb, Jaz’s notebook from the Democracy (album which just arrived a couple weeks ago), the Money is Not Our God original scenery, the hat I wore on the bridge in Prague, the tarot card deck, the meal money sign-off sheet (signed by Geordie, Raven, and John Bechdel), and of course the demos downstairs in the studio.
Now we can add the burnt cash register from the ceremony last week, the set lists from the Extremities shows, Doc Marten boots signed by the band, and Extremities scenery creating a 35-year bookend with the original Money scenery. If you saw the livestream from Extremities, you will have seen Steve Silver give me Geordie’s Dunhill Lighter that will, of course, take pride and place in one of the Museum cases, too.
And I guess more important than all of this, is getting to feel not just connected to the past, but also connected to the future. I need to get used to this feeling of being overwhelmed by all of this, and find a way to just bathe in it. Come and be overwhelmed with me.
