Extremities, Dirt, and a Few Beers w/ Martin
Saturday, November 22th
12:00pm CT / 6:00pm GMT

Killing Joke – Extremities, Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions was released 35 years ago, November 20. We’re so excited for the shows at Reggies to celebrate – Martin is hopping online to chat and reminisce! Join in online, Saturday 11/22!

More from Martin:

I LOVE Killing Joke. It was such an important part of my career in so many ways. 1988 to 1991 was a very busy time – including the Ministry Cage Tour and the formation of the band I still call home, Pigface, while I was still in KJ.

So, please join me for a while to journey down memory lane with some stories, some pics, other bits and pieces (I used to manage the band and make the merch and scenery so there’s all kinds of stuff!) I’m sure this will be a rewarding afternoon/evening, and I’m already kind of excited! (exhausted right now, but excited!). Nothing but love and respect here for the mighty Killing Joke and all of you lot!

I’m making this a ‘pay what you want’ event because I know some just don’t have the means to do much these days and I’d hate to exclude anyone from this. Those of you who are doing okay, throw some in the pot!

Also, Martin was recently featured on an episode of Car Con Carne, with guest hosts, Karen and Ivan from the Chicago bass duo Bellhead (who is one of the openers for Extremities!). Topics they covered included (among others):

FAQ: MARTIN ATKINS PRESENTS: KILLING JOKE’S EXTREMITIES

What is this?

It’s a show to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Killing Joke album, Extremities, Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions.

How is this possible when Geordie and Raven are no longer with us?

Well, of course it’s not possible to replace Geordie – it’s our intention to honor his legacy and our work together. There’s no one better on the planet to do that than Mark Gemini Thwaite, who played with Peter Murphy, The Mission, and was even in another band with Raven at one point. Similarly, Raven was a unique individual, and a force on the bass. What better way to celebrate than to play this influential album which hasn’t been played live in 33 years!

Why would I get a VIP?

The $35 in merch booth coupons, to start with! You get a free shirt with your GA ticket, so you’re already way ahead. You’ll get early access to the merch booth, invited to dress rehearsal on Thanksgiving Day, and a limited edition VIP pass.

So what makes Ultra VIP better??

On top of the VIP perks, you’ll get reserved balcony seating, a special Money is Not Our God poster (reprinted using the original screen from 1990!!), and an exclusive invite to the industrial walk around and fire ceremony!

Fire Ceremony?

In 1991, in the Money is Not Our God music video, Jaz doused a cash register with gas and set it on fire right under the L tracks — that fire was just across from Reggie’s!! It only feels right we do this right in the area Invisible used to be, from where Killing Joke used to rehearse, and then set fire to something? Who knows!

Will the Museum be open over the weekend?

There will be limited tours Saturday and Sunday — get your tickets HERE before they run out!

Will the AirBnB be available?

Nope, the bands are taking over the place!

Speaking of which.. who’s in the bands?

– Leyla Royale, (Pigface)

– Randy Blythe, (Lamb of God)

– Justin Pearson, (The Locust / Deaf Club)

– Tara Busch, (I Speak Machine)

– Orville Kline, (Pigface / Porn n Chicken
)

– Dirk Flanagan, (77 Luscious Babes)

- Mark Gemini Thwaite (Peter Murphy / The Mission)

I’ve been a Killing Joke fan since…..it’s breaking my heart, we just don’t have the wherewithal to make a GA ticket happen….

— look, this is a really insanely expensive proposition, which I’m sure you can understand, with rehearsals having started in March, members flying from all over the country for multiple rehearsals since then, etc.. But — please send me an email, and I’ll try to do what I can.
