Museum Friday Updates

How funny…

In 1979, fresh off the front cover of melody maker and the metal box with PiL, I went to see U2 at the Rock Garden in London. Their manager at the time Paul McGuiness and I would always bump into each other at the Virgin Records offices on Vernon Yard just off of Ladbroke Grove. Back then, Sir Richard was always in the offices – super cool time and place.

Anyway, we would sometimes end up in the pub down the street and Paul asked me to see his band – I saw them play to about 17 people and left early, (and fabulously) because I had run out of speed.

Weird and wonderful then to be watching them perform on Tiny Desk from my perch on the shelf! Shame, seems like these guys just can’t get a break
