Museum Monday: All Day Wednesday!

One of the many benefits of the museum is throwing events that are near and dear to us and then getting to attend, while also expanding our knowledge of the impact of industrial music and the elements that bang around in the museum on a daily basis. We get to make these events happen, collide with people in different orbits, and strengthen the relationships we already have. If you are interested in starting a studio, a creative business, early industrial, hip hop, creativity, studios, audio, analog, Chicago! this event is for you:

Some info on Michael Kolar:
Founder and head engineer of Soundscape Studios (est.1997), who has worked on albums for artists including Action Bronson, FKA Twigs, Raekwon, Jamila Woods, Zayn Malik, M.I.A, Chance The Rapper, Curren$y, Ludacris, 2 Chainz, Naked Raygun, Wyclef Jean, Talib Kweli, Chingy and many others. Learn how the beginnings of Industrial informed and shaped his work in hip-hop!

Just in case you are wondering, I asked Michael for a playlist of formative industrial tracks and he responded with:
Ministry’s Theives, Murder Inc Murder Inc, Rob Zombie Dragula,  Big Black Bad Penny, Skinny Puppy Killing Game, Killing Joke Requiem, Pigface Fuck it Up, Front Line Assembly Mind Phaser,  NIN March of the Pigs, Throbbing Gristle Hamburger Lady,  + Front 242 Headhunter

I’m looking forwards to this one immensely!

Capacity is quite limited at the museum, but what a totally correct place to have this conversation, surrounded by all of the artifacts from all of these bands …..to talk about Genesis P Orridge’s influence in the shadow of their lederhosen, NiN just feet from their earliest demos, next to my kit from Ministry and Murder Inc, in front of the Killing Joke and Pigface scenery, with FLA & Front 242 ephemera all over too – magic!

Plus, the fridge is always full!

Last week, I also had the opportunity to join Ben, owner of DZ Records, on his podcast, Bending Brains – check it out HERE, or anywhere you listen to podcasts. LOTS more events this weekend – Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, MUSEUM WEEK in June – exactly like shark week but with the museum, and all kinds of fabulousness!
