Museum Monday: On an Early 80s Kick

Saturday, we celebrated the 46th anniversary of my first two gigs with Public Image Limited in Paris. The online zoom will be up on the Patreon soon with a few edits. This is one of the zooms I’ve been doing for a few years now, and each year deeper recollections and items seem to surface and add to the rich backdrop of these events – I love this!

Has the last 5 years of the Museum been a long slow research project for my book? Well, maybe – it will certainly be so much better than it would have been back then if I can get it together.

Looking at the Paris trip I recalled being bored in Paris – oh boo hoo. I bought a pair of interesting pants and then spent way too much money on a plastic trumpet that, when you blow in the end, a rubber diaphragm hits a switch which starts a mini record player that plays 3” discs inside the trumpet – each colored disc a different trumpet solo. A tumultuous year or so later, that trumpet would be inserted backwards on to Four Enclosed Walls along with the Mickey Mouse pocket watch I bought at Disneyland California the day after we recorded American Bandstand.

Speaking of anniversaries, we celebrated the celestial birthday of Killing Joke, Pigface and Murder Inc bassist Paul Raven this weekend (Jan 16th), and I posted my story of the feelings emotions and vibrations bouncing around him still. That’s up on the Patreon – which is free/pwyw to join with full access if you want! We’ve been putting some great content up on there. I think for anyone who has been on the Patreon since the beginning many months ago, it might have been a little like painfully waiting for the next episode of Hijack – but, right now there’s hours of content for you to jump in and lose yourself for a minute.

The world is a fucking mess – art is resistance, (thank you NiN and Toni Morrison), be as nice as you possibly can to as many people as you can but don’t forget to be nice to yourself too.

If you are interested in sitting in on one of my upcoming classes for free at ISU on fiscal literacy and entrepreneurship (crowdfunding, merchandise – the engine, events/touring). You can fill out this form. The classes are in Bloomington-Normal IL, but I might put a couple up online if enough people are interested.

Peace Love and much respect on this MLK Jr. Day
