Museum Monday: Preserving Art and Legacies

MUSEUM MONDAY:

One of the things about the Museum is it feels like it puts us closer to all of the elements of this: whether it’s En Esch and his band coming by, sitting and talking, and having a cup of coffee – or Curse Mackey coming in – or, when life things get difficult, it feels like they might be a little bit easier to understand and deal with.

That was the case this weekend, when we learned of the passing of Tim Gore – who spent so many years creating the latex prosthetic work for Skinny Puppy that defined their early shows. He designed the Fook backdrop in 1992 with help from Mike MXV Vinikour – that massive piece was such a statement. I’m so pleased that it’s preserved at the Museum.

It was difficult on Saturday to walk past the piece and think about Tim. He was working on a couple things for us that now won’t see the light of day… But, it’s comforting to know that his work and his legacy live on in the Museum – and we’re thankful for his creativity and his crazy time on this planet.

There are events Friday, Saturday and Sunday, celebrating Trent Reznor’s birthday on Sunday. So many people have been visiting from all over the world that it’s really exciting to keep these activities moving forward!
