MUSEUM MONDAY:
BIG things continue to happen at the museum, there is SO MUCH STUFF, that it’s a lot of work just to keep things together sometimes. I’m really happy with the beginnings of a more focused SWANS, KMFDM, EXIT and other areas, but especially the section dedicated to WAXTRAX! Pressing the store memory button in an amazing moment with Chris Connelly and Frankie Nardiello taken by Fed Gianelli, then enlarged and enhanced by Larry White at Public Images gallery in Tulsa OK. Add in the counter top, the Strike Under master tape to the first release, both kinds of shopping bags, the Black Box signed by Jim and Dannie, the Bowie poster that hung in the store, PTV / TVT master tapes, signed COIL – and we are just scratching the surface of what we have!
But now, at least, we know where each piece goes. I’m hoping to showcase all of the labels that formed the scene back then (Wax Trax!, Touch and Go, my own Invisible, Projekt, Smash Records, and more), as well as feature all of the snow chained tires on the 20 wheeled juggernaut that was Chicago/Industrial music!
Onwards!
If you haven’t visited yet you’ve picked a great time not to have done so – but it’s time to fix that! Each week feels like a better version of the week before, so make sure to book a tour during the summer while I am around the most. Find a tour here!
Also, I’ve been asking how our visitors are finding out about us and it seems to be mainly word of mouth and accidental collisions – so please help us spread the word if you can!
You can get the new Genesis Pigface vinyl here, the Albini demos and a short snapshot of my first Killing Joke gig here and other wonderful stuff here!
More soon and thankyou so much for your continued support of this crazy idea!!
