Museum Monday: Screenprinting Party, Dark Matter, and more…

Just when you thought things couldn’t get crazier, busier, more wonderful at the museum, they fucking go ahead and get crazier, more wonderful and more fueling.

It was a packed weekend where we took 30 volunteers over to the Dark Matter Coffee Warehouse to make more BIGGER Pigface scenery (with pizza and refreshments, of course).

Courtesy of Dark Matter Coffee and with help from lots of Dark Matter staff.

I even got to play drums with Mike from Black Cross Hotel. How awesome is it that instead of somebody questioning whether you want to screen print and play drums, they add Christmas tree lights and smoke machines to the equation.

I love being around the Dark Matter people.

We get each other, we help each other and we fuel each other. Literally and figuratively.

Thanks to everyone that helped, the scenery goes out to be fireproofed this week. Lots of events coming up. And, if things couldn’t get wilder, Interpol’s management stopped by and had a visit on Saturday before the tour, then hooked us up with guest list on Sunday night.

Sounded really great. I got to wander around behind the stage and see what was going on. Crazy week.

Lots of events coming up.

There are still GA available for Pigface in November, but in the category of ‘we’re trying to warn you,’ I think that tickets overall are close to 70% sold, so don’t fuck about.

PPIM Presents: Jane Jensen in Conversation & More w/ Martin Atkins

Join Martin at the Museum as he sits down for an chat and more with Jane Jensen (known for her role as Juliet in Tromeo and Juliet)!

EVENT DETAILS:

Jane Jensen, recording artist, actress, songwriter, and performer whose career emerged from the underground art, music, and performance culture of Chicago before carrying her into the industrial and alternative music world of the 1990s and beyond, joins Martin Atkins for a special, intimate evening of conversation, music, and more!

MORE ABOUT JANE JENSEN:
Blending industrial rock, post-punk, electronic music, punk attitude, and theatrical performance, Jensen signed with Flip/Interscope Records and released Comic Book Whore, establishing a sound and persona that were simultaneously confrontational, playful, dark, and deeply personal. Her music would later appear across film and television, while Jensen herself became a cult-film figure through her starring role as Juliet in Troma Entertainment’s Tromeo and Juliet. Her music and film connections have continued through projects including The Crow: Salvation, Slither, Super, and other independent and genre productions.

Across subsequent releases and independent projects, Jensen has continued exploring the intersection of music, performance art, sexuality, spirituality, horror, humor, and reinvention—remaining connected to the DIY ethos that first drew her into Chicago’s underground culture.

Now returning to the stage with decades of stories behind the songs, Jensen brings the past into conversation with the present: revisiting the music and experiences that shaped her while continuing to create from the perspective of an artist who never quite learned how—or saw any reason—to behave.
