MUSEUM FUNDRAISING AUCTIONS: FAQ

1 – The Trent Reznor ‘Passport’ Photograph:

Oh my goodness. Stop! “Trent is wearing a bandana therefore it cant be real” etc etc; When we made the Pigface album, things were crazy! We had just (the DAY before) finished the Ministry Cage Tour, and we forgot to get a group pic. Ogre went back to Vancouver, En Esch went back to Berlin, and Trent was in Cleveland… I don’t remember where David Yow was…..but, unable to simply fly everyone to Chicago for a group photo, I asked everyone to send some passport photographs to collage into one! Actually, Chris Connelly, who worked at Invisible Records back then, put the fantastically PUNK AF collage pic together – with all of our heads sloppily glued onto the heads of sportswear models on the side of a snow covered mountain.

THAT’S why we have Trent’s ‘Passport’ photo.

And don’t worry, there is a strip of four framed at the museum, too!

2 – The 1 on 1 consult with Martin

OK, I’ve been doing this for a while and really enjoy digging in deep to help an artist with whatever the hurdles are. They aren’t always what you think. From the nuts and bolts of touring (I ran a case study of a Pomplemoose tour that lost them 12k – I made them over $200k with some pretty simple strategies), to maybe it’s career related, work-life balance related, or you just can’t see the wood for the trees. These are pretty helpful, I think, and I love doing them – wherever they lead!

3 – The ‘Test’ Shirts

Whenever we start a run of shirts, we test the screens first. After a while, some of those test shirts start to take on a life of their own, with multiple weirdly placed prints – so we decided to start selling them. Some of my favorites actually! Watch out – some have prints on the inside, too – and while that’s great in terms of extra vibes for your hard earned dollar – they might be scratchy?

4 – Newspaper Print Proof Signed by Martin and Jah Wobble

This is not something from a newspaper. It’s similar to the testing procedure for a shirt screen – when I am printing scenery I will pull a few screens onto newsprint (porous) paper. The ones from Jah Wobbles visit earlier this year turned out really nice – so we signed a couple!

5 – Custom Drum Track

We’re a little behind with previous drum tracks…so be careful if you need drums next week for a new album going to the pressing plant the week after that! We are scheduling a great big day of drums in two weeks time here in Chicago to get the tracks hammered out! You get to choose what of my vibes you want for the track – and I play along and send you the session and stereo pair.

6 – The NiN/Pigface Press Kit, 8 x 10 photograph, agents letter, and letter from Chris Connelly (copies)
This Press Kit Set kind of goes nicely with #1? It contains paperwork from the agent confirming that Trent will be at the NYC show (1991) and the 8×10 photograph with a key – because no one really knew who any of us were!

7 – The Private Museum Tour
This is a great way to support – usually $450 – its a 2.5 hour + experience with my guiding you through the Museum, then ending up with an insane listening session in my studio surrounded by all kinds of analog heaven! The sound system down there has been upgraded twice in the last year as the impact of the experience grows!

AN EVENING ON KILLING JOKE

STEVE SILVER + MARTIN ATKINS

This Saturday evening, we’re excited to welcome back Steve Silver to the Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music, as he discusses all things Killing Joke with Martin! We have so many events planned for this summer. Next month, we’re REALLY looking forward to the Thrill Kill Kult Day the 12th! Events are now live for Lollapalooza Weekend, and we’ll later be welcoming special guests Marky Ray and Jim Lanza to the Museum!
