Extremities Rehearsals, Father’s Day Weekend, + More!
How to describe today?
Mad dollar bill printing with interns yesterday and spray painting in the alley around the garbage trucks this morning, then throwing everything up here at the museum, and we got the PIG backdrop up! Justin, Orville, and Steven are here for rehearsals, so we’re just hanging, listening to demos and monitor mixes downstairs then banging around and talking up here / just like the old KJ days actually – just cappuccinos instead of the mighty FiLs pots of tea.
We are getting ready for November’s Extremities shows – being frightened and cautious and realizing that these are the last times we can have these emotions… I need to laugh at my drums (and my fractured fingers), and spit and bleed and smile and probably cry, too. But anyway, music, fucking music – it’s not always, kind of rarely actually, easy or comfortable? But isn’t that the exact way it should be? Once again, this museum refines, sorts, and focuses these energies for maximum impact and weight. I will sleep well tonight.
There’s lots of events this Father’s Day weekend (in person + online!!) – it’s one of my favorite weekends!! I’m happy to share Saturday with you, and anyone that identifies as a dad!!
