Museum Monday: 31st March 2025

This has been a spectacular week. Nothing massive, but the continued slow growth of the impact of the museum, the collection, the people who love us, and the neighbourhood, itself.

The collection of audio archives keeps growing, too. I HAVE to get the Joy Division/New Order cassettes archived and lightly mastered so we can start to include those in the end-of-tour listening sessions. (If you’re interested in interning submit here) The addition of the massive sub woofer really pushes that experience over the top!

I spoke at ISU about the 20+ reasons Chicago became the center of US Industrial music, and that was eye opening and affirming, ending with the importance of not just tolerating diversity in every manifestation, but celebrating it. Pour some gasoline on that spark! I LOVE when I learn from my own slides! (more on this later)

This coming month, we congratulate the Punk Museum on two years of existence – they’ve done a great job down there! We often have visitors raving about it. For this year alone, we can say that we are twice as old as they are! We are about to celebrate our 4th birthday at the end of April. We both announced at the same time – we punk-rocked the fuck out of it and just opened the doors. They spent time on their building and investment etc and opened two years later; it is fantastic that this history that is so impactful and meaningful to us all (we grew out of punk after all!) is tangible and celebrated and preserved. YES!! Rock the fuck on – PUNKAF. Congratulations to the Punk Rock Musem

Once again, I could go on about how much we love our place, but much better to have others say it in their words – come visit!

“An incredible documentation, of some of the most important items from a rarely preserved era.” – Brian

“An industrial music dream” – Elizabeth

“This should be on your bucket list.” – Ryan

“A secret stash of music history and memorabilia more-than-worthy of the Smithsonian.” – Julie

“Continues the punk ethos even in a museum setting – allowing guests to actually touch and interact with the objects”.  – Gisselle

“It’s the Post Punk Louvre!” – Nick

“Unlike any museum I’ve visited, I can’t wait to come back.” – Greg

“I was there for 3 hrs and still not enough time to SEE IT ALL” – Brigette

“5 stars, two thumbs up, 100% loved it.” – Robert

Public Image Ltd 45th US Tour Anniversary!

Virtual @ 11AM CT
In Person @ 2PM CT
Sunday, April 20, 2025

In person AND virtual events are available, as we approach the 45th anniversary of PiL’s first time in the US, and Martin’s introduction to the states! At 11am CT, Martin will be online from the center of the Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music, sharing stories and memories, and stringing along what was the first US tour, eventually ending at American Bandstand.

Following the free/pwyw online session, the Museum will be open 2-6pm for a PiL Day Open House. Martin will be around pointing at things and sharing stories, and might take folks down to the studio to check out some museum archives! Tickets for this event are $25. We want you to be here – if you need a discount code, please send a note, and we will work it out for you!

Also, a ton of new events are live for the Month of May, including a NiN Day on Trent Reznor’s birthday! Or, if you’re in town the weekend of May 9 to see Ministry at the Riviera Theatre, grab tickets and take a Ministry-focused tour of the Museum!

We can’t wait to see you there!
