Museum Monday: What A Weekend!
Our first NiN Day welcomed three ‘SOLD OUT’ tours during the day with people driving from as far as Ohio to come visit. There are now so many deep artifacts that we could host all kinds of different ‘days,’ but the NiN Day went really deep: from The Year Zero ammo case and discussion, to the carabiners from which Trent hung in the HLAH video (filmed at Chicago’s EXIT), to press kits and passes and passport photos, and all kinds of ephemera!
People loved sitting behind my HLAH/Wish drum kit (also Ministry, Pigface, Killing Joke and more!), but I think the highlight for many was sitting in my studio, amongst the Steve Albini machinery, listening to what we think are the earliest NiN demos. A little bit of the Los Angeles Helter Skelter gig, too, from 1991 is archived down there.
Photographer Mark Elliot really captured the day (you can check out Mark’s work here)! Not gonna lie, 3 back to back tours in a row was a long exhausting day – but what is beautiful: it was massively energizing for all of us, too – being waist deep in so much DIY creativity that connects with so many of us and, not for nothing, connecting with each other as well. For a socially anxious person like myself, and I think for all of us right now, these connections are more important than ever. I didn’t know that the museum would be all of these things for all of us, but I am so very very happy that it is. Come visit.
A COUPLE REMINDERS:There are many events live for opportunities to visit PPIM!
