Museum Monday!
It’s Museum Monday!
So much amazing activity this weekend with Jah Wobble in town! I want to talk about that for a minute.
My goodness, first his band was tight AF at The Hideout on Friday night, and who knew John Klein of the Banshees was on guitar with him! Aside from the fact that it was a mesmerizing event at the Museum, just listening to him speak about philosophy, art, and the role of bass frequencies in his life – from the guy who was given his name by Sid Vicious. On top of that we got to jam a little for the first time in 23+ years, since we made the Damage Manual – a nice surprise for everyone I hope and super meaningful for me to play with someone I first played with 44 years ago when we made Bad Baby for PiL’s Metal Box.
The museum is starting to not just show some magical items but starting to make magic itself – and that’s thrilling! This month, along with Chris Connelly, Steve Silver Donna Lynch and Jah Wobble events have really taken things to another level. But these events do something else which I am calling “precipitation” – they cause a focusing of energy and some attention to different areas. For Chris, I found a Whiplash Boychild poster, remembered that Private Education was recorded downstairs in my studio there, and found an original Polaroid from the Damage Manual cover sessions.
For Wobble, I tidied up the display featuring items from Paris 1980 – my ticket from the Paris Metro, backstage pass, itinerary, and more – and in the studio, I discovered and archived a smashing dub version of Wobbles ‘Tales from Outer Space’ (from the Betrayal album) engineered by Marc Lusardi at Gooseberry studios in Soho, London 1980 (something that Wobble doesn’t have).
I learned some stuff too – Jason Pettigrew was on the zoom portion of the Wobble event and asked how it was to work on Ministry’s Twitch with Al Jourgenson? Talk about lines intersecting across lines! We talked about our sobriety too – it’s always good to spread that sober love around. You should try to catch one of Jah Wobble’s remaining US Tour shows!
None of this is simple, I find myself needing a few hours today to reflect and absorb what just happened, but my goodness do I feel blessed today.
Stay tuned for more events coming up – come visit!
