Reflections on Focused Tours

How fueling these focused days are! Yesterday was Skinny Puppy Process Day and we got to hang and soak in A LOT of Puppy-related stuff. It’s great when full on fans (experts?) get to fill in the gaps in my knowledge, and then I get to throw out little fortune cookies of interesting tid-bits! How cool to hang with Mike Vinikour, who helped fabricate the FOOK backdrop with Tim Gore in 1992 and is still part of our orbit!

  • Aug 1 1989: (first encounter?) The Kitchen Club (Miami): Killing Joke & Martin Atkins meet Skinny Puppy w/ promoter DJ Mont Sherar

  • Oct Nov Dec 1989/1990: Ministry cage tour rehearsals and tour

  • Feb 22 1990: Star Plaza Indiana – In Case recorded

  • Feb 24 1990:  Nectarine Ballroom Ann Arbor last show.

  • 1990: Gub – Ogre vocals on “Tapeworm” before going back to Canada

  • 1991 Tour:  Welcome to Mexico… Asshole! Ogre performs live with Pigface Trent (Pittsburgh Metropole + Marquee NYC)

  • 1992: Fook: Ogre vocals on “Insemination”

  • 1993-1994: Atkins collaborates as producer & drummer on Skinny Puppy’s The Process. At Shangri La in Malibu, Ric Rubins studio, 17 songs are completed in structure with vocals & lyrics (cassette)

  • 1992-1993: Trent Reznor records The Downward Spiral at Le Pig. Rented 10050 Cielo Drive (the Sharon Tate house). Set up a recording studio called Le Pig. Atkins visits with Genesis P Orridge & Dr Timothy Leary.

    • The doors of the house end up at Trents studio in New Orleans and recently sold for $127,000.

  • 1994: Notes From Thee Underground – Ogre vocals on “Asphole”

  • 1995: Atkins joins Psychic TV for a minute ‘welcome to my banned!”

  • Aug 23rd 1995: Duane passes

  • Feb 27th 1996: The Process is released

  • 1998: RX Bedside Toxicology – Full album collaboration. Recorded in Chicago at invisible, 2024 S Wabash, Alien Soundscapes. Ogre walks into the studio and startles everyone by playing the Pink Floyd / Syd Barrett Scarecrow song on acoustic guitar and singing.

  • For Dusts & Mists (Ogres dogs hero & sedu) recording of them eating kibble from their metal bowl from the Malibu house incorporated into RX. (Martin would wake up to that sound every morning)

  • 1983(?): Cevin and friend follow Martin and Johnny Rotten around Magic Mountain in CA – sends martin a Polaroid of the day!
